Where our story began — family-raised Goldens since 2007
Golden Retrievers are where Promise Land began. What started in 2007 as a love for Goldens has grown alongside our children, and the passion for quality and outstanding Goldens is still the model we hold every other breed to. Our program includes both cream and golden Goldens, and many of our lines are now fourth generation. Goldens originated in the 1860s in Great Britain and were brought to America in 1890. They were recognized by the American Kennel Club as a distinct breed in 1932, and the cream color was added to the English standard in 1936. Whatever the color, we believe the overall health and longevity of a dog should come first, not the shade of its coat. Some of our puppies have gone on to become service dogs, and our Tucker is a trained therapy dog who has appeared on TV with his guardian.

Every parent is screened before joining our program.
Guardian Home Program
Most of our dogs live with families, not in kennels.
4th-Gen Bloodlines
Generations of health-tested, well-tempered dogs.
Every Golden Retriever must pass with flying colors before joining our program. Our breeding dogs are screened with PennHIP and OFA hips, OFA elbows, OFA heart, OFA eyes, OFA patella, OFA dentition and OFA thyroid, plus Embark genetic testing. We go beyond the "basic four" clearances (hips, elbows, eyes and heart) recommended by the Golden Retriever Club of America. We also take preliminary hip and elbow films before two years of age, so we can tell inherited problems from developmental ones.

Most of our breeding Goldens live as cherished family members in guardian homes, never in kennels. A guardian family receives a top-quality Golden at no cost and keeps the dog as a family pet, while we keep the breeding rights and pay for all health testing and breeding expenses. When the dog retires, we cover the spay or neuter and ownership transfers to the guardian family. Guardian homes live within an hour of Pasadena, Maryland, own their home with a fenced yard, feed one of the Victor dog foods we require and keep the dog on NuVet vitamins.
